City Cabs is part of Edinburgh Taxis 1925, a worker owned co-operative for over 100 years.
Unlike many transport companies, we are not owned by outside investors or a national parent company. Instead, we are owned by our members — the people who work within the business and help shape its future.
Since 1925, this democratic structure has helped us invest for the long term, supporting drivers, improving services and strengthening Edinburgh's licensed taxi trade.
Today, that same commitment continues through investment in modern vehicles, technology, The Taxi Garage and the next generation of Edinburgh taxi drivers.

Every member has an equal voice regardless of how many individual shares they buy within the co-operative.

Major decisions are guided by our members through a democratic process.
Long-Term Thinking
We invest in assets, technology and infrastructure that strengthen the organisation for future generations. We encourage our members to purchase up to 20% of the shares in the company in order to think long-term.
Local Ownership
We remain rooted in Edinburgh, supporting the city's licensed taxi trade and the people who work within it.
